What do you consider the most valuable organizational chart that you use?

--Curious in Kankakee

While certainly the measurement list is one of the most important, I would say that the Rehearsal Report Form, that delivered-every-day-missive detailing the events at rehearsal of the day before, would also be in the running. Over the years, the format and means of delivery have changed from a mimeo or photocopied page placed in mailboxes to an EMAIL one, but the content is the same. Each area has space on the page for their notes from the director and can read about the progress on the show.

If someone has been cut from the cast, it's on the report. If Props is looking for a specific chair, it's on the report. If the director has decided that the "blue cloak for Harry is no longer needed", the designer knows she needs to get in touch with him about it. It is an excellent way to keep everyone on the team informed and part of the process. And the closer to production it becomes, an instant information tool like this is more valuable each day.

I have included one for your use. REHEARSAL REPORT FORM

The Stage Manager is in charge of making out the report and EMAILing it to the designers and their assistants, the shop supervisors, the actors, the technical staff, artistic director, events coordinator, head of department, and those who need to know, so that they receive it when they arrive at work the next AM. Getting it later in the day does not help if the designer was boot shopping at noon and did not know that "Fred, size 13 boot" is no longer in the show.
